Time, Art and a Sprain

 It's already Tuesday March 3!!  Time has flown by since the last time I caught up with all of you.  I went scrapbooking over the weekend and finished my Wine Weekend album!  I'm very happy with the way it turned out and wish I could show it to you.

Yesterday I went to my parents house right after work to deliver my mom her birthday present.  It was a heritage scrapbook of her parents from baby pictures to the point when they got married.  I also included some letters from her mom and her grandma.  Again I wish I could share it with all of you!

After delivering my mom's birthday gift I went to visit one of my oldest and dearest friends.  I saw all the work that her husband has been doing on the house, it looks amazing!  Then we went out to happy hour and spent the next couple of hours talking non-stop.  It was fantastic.  I didn't get home until it was almost my bed time.

It always amazes me how time gets away from me.  I will be catching up with all of you after work today!

All along one of the streets in our little town they put up banners of 11 youth's artwork.  One of the youths is Dancing Daughter.  Last weekend I was able to get a couple shots of her banner.

All last week DD stayed at school until 6pm learning the Drill Team routine so she could try out for the team this week.  Unfortunately on Friday night she went bowling with friends, got a strike, jumped up in excitement and landed badly on her ankle! Now it's sprained and she is hobbling around.  Luckily they are going to let her try out without doing all the marching and other hard leg moves.  She will try out doing all the arm movements.  I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

Now time has gotten away from me again and I need to get ready to leave for work!

Weekend Away

I'm spending the weekend with my mom scrapbooking.  It's close to home, but at a hotel so I'll be gone all weekend.  The only time I scrapbooked at a hotel was just for the day.  I wonder how much time I'll actually spend in the room?

I'm working on Star Wars Son's album, that means I'll be working with pictures like this...

Is This Thing On?!

Hello Blog,

It's been a while. 

I hosted a scrapbooking retreat at Anderson Island over the weekend.  It's so pretty there. 

These people scrapped away the weekend!

This was Saturday breakfast!

I used this banana bread recipe, but made it into a coffee cake.  It was soooo good!

We saw this rainbow out the window...

I didn't do much scrapbooking myself, but I did finish one book and start another.  I also walked on the beach, even though it was cold, windy and rainy.  It was refreshing to breath in the sea air!  I went to bed early while everyone else stayed up to scrap.  I can't wait to go back in May!

Well blog, I hope to not be so neglectful in the future!  I have ideas, but my mind is all in jumbles, hopefully the jumbles will smooth out and I can get back to writing.

This and That Thursday

All packed up and ready to leave for a weekend of scrapbooking!  This time Dancing Daughter is coming along.  This is her first "women's weekend"... Should be interesting.

The cycles of the woman's body are amazing, but I'm really sick of my cycling.  I want the cycling to stop, I'm done riding the ups and downs caused by the monthly visit from Aunt Flo!  I'm sick of her, she makes me crabby, crampy and tired.  I'm so over her!

I've lost track of how many jobs I've applied for, but I'm guessing it's in the 35 range!  I've heard back from roughly five of them.  What I've heard is, Thank you for applying.  We have received, 200, 700, 1100, (insert super large number here).  We will be sorting through every application (usually meaning the cover letter and resume submitted) and then begin the interview process.  Mostly I hear a lot of this....  *crickets*  Do you hear it?  It's a whole lot of nothing!

I'm really glad to be getting away from the computer for a few days.  I've become obsessed with the job hunt.

Scrapbooking Weekend

For those who don't know, I'm a Creative Memories consultant.  I became a consultant for three main reasons: 

1. It's really important to preserve family memories.  We have many unlabeled photos from my grandparents, we don't know who are in the photos, we don't know where they were taken or even why they were taken.  It's very sad.  I help people organize, document and preserve their family memories.
2. Hosting scrapbooking retreats and crops.
3. CM products at reduced cost.  Luckily my business pays for all my scrapbooking needs!

This past weekend was a scrapbooking retreat at Anderson Island.  We had so much fun!

When we arrive the first thing we do is move furniture around to make room for tables.

Goodie bags are set out at each person's spot.

People arrive, take their places and start scrappin'.  The women sitting down are my aunts, the one standing is my mama.  The aunt on the right was having her first scrapbooking experience.  I think it's safe to say she's hooked!

Much scrappin' is done.  Since Deb asked so nicely here are a few samples of my layouts.  I like to keep it very simple!

The weather was perfect for weekend, windy, rainy and sunny.  We had a little bit of everything.  There were enough breaks that everyone had a chance to get down to the beach.  Mostly it rained though!

 

I can't wait to do it again... Maybe in February?!

Scrapbooking Weekend

A scrapbooking weekend at the island is much different than a weekend at the island with my friends.  Don't get me wrong I love my scrapbooking ladies and I consider every one of them my friends, especially the few that were at the latest weekend, but for me it's a working weekend.

I became a Creative Memories consultant 6 years ago for two reasons.  First I wanted a discount on supplies and second I wanted to have scrapbooking events at my house and host weekend retreats.  Luckily for me my little business pays for all my scrapbooking, so my husband doesn't mind the invasion of scrapbookers I have every 4-6 weeks, or my absence from home 2-3 long weekends a year.

Because it was a working weekend I didn't take as many pictures as I should have.  I spent time cooking, cleaning and doing my own scrapbooking.  I did manage a long walk on the beach Friday evening when the weather was gorgeous and the tide was low.

Here are just a couple pics of the happy scrappers.

 

 

The low tide was remarkable.  At the island there is a large sand dollar bed.  Did you know sand dollars are black when they are alive?

Here is the bed, all the bumps you see are sand dollars.

 

 

I've been fascinated with sand dollars since I found my first one at the ocean when I was a little girl.  I was a grown up before I knew they were black when alive.

One alive and one dead. 

 

The seagulls like to eat the meaty part inside, this is what they leave after eating.

 

The seagulls flew away as I got closer, they were quite vocal about me interrupting their meal.

 

That pile of slimy looking stuff are sea anemones.

 

They are fluffy and graceful looking under the water.  I tried to capture an underwater shot, but it didn't come out very well.

 

My wish for this weekend, beside getting all the pictures I brought scrapbooked, was for a pretty sunset.  I lucked out by getting all my pictures scrapbooked AND having two remarkable sunsets!

For a contrast here is a photo about an hour before sunset on Saturday evening.  The day had been stormy with lots of wind and rain.

 

It was a great weekend and everyone hated to leave.  We won't be going back for another scrapbooking weekend until October. Boo Hoo!

Back from the scrapbooking weekend and very tired!  We had a great time talking, drinking, eating, walking on the beach, listening to music and most of all scrapping.  I'm posting a couple of pictures to hold you over until I get my weekend recap written up.  Today is all about catching up with all of you!

Outta Here!

I'm on my way to the island this afternoon for a luxuriously long scrapbooking weekend at the island!  I've composed new entries to automatically post while I'm gone because I will not have access to a computer.  I'll catch up with all of you when I get back!  I'll be taking lots of pictures and am really hoping for a nice sunset to shoot!

We will be a small group this weekend which is fine with me, since I cook for everyone.  The women that are coming are some of my favorite customers who I love spending time with.  We talk and laugh much of the time and we always hate to see the weekends end.

I'll have a recap when I get back so you can see what a scrapbooking weekend is like!
