The past couple weeks I've been very cautious about what I've written about. Because I have so much on my mind relating to selling houses and finding jobs, I've found it difficult to think (or write) about other things. So I've been cryptic, even annoying myself.
A couple times I started ranting posts about the job hunt, but deleted them before they were even done because I'm really truly trying to stay positive. I feel it's really important to stay upbeat and focus on the good, or the prospect of it anyway. But every now and then you have to throw up before you can feel better, so that's what I'm going to do here... I'm going to spew all over you, sorry in advance!
I hear so much talk about how hard it is to find good employees, well I'm telling you right now it's equally hard to find a good employer. I've read accounts of horrible employees who don't show up to work, or make glaring mistakes and never own up to them. Employees who don't show up to work or show up late, without calling in, the accounts go on and on.
What about the employers who are trying to fill a position? I understand how hard it is to find someone who is reliable, personable and friendly. I hired an employee a few years ago. I understand the stress. But does that make it ok to leave potential employees hanging? If I'm told someone is going to get back to me at a certain date I expect it to happen. Is that weird? Am I strange?
I've had just one potential employer get back to me when promised, one out of five! Three weeks ago I had two interviews. The first one I heard back from because I contacted them after waiting two days past the day I was supposed to hear back. The second one said it would be a week because a major player was on vacation. I just heard back from that place today... Today!
I'm beginning to figure out why employers have such a hard time finding reliable employees.

(Because I know some of you are wondering....We haven't heard any thing about the Wednesday inspection on the house. We are hoping to hear today, but the buyers have until 9pm Saturday to respond.)
