It really hasn't sunk in yet that I have a job to go to on Monday! I'm still in shock, but just so darn excited to move on to the next phase of my life!
I am the new Administrative Assistant to the Piping Department, Sheet Metal Department and Production Shop of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions. In 2008 this company was voted NWJobs.com People's Picks for Large Company with the Best Benefits!
Before I go on I feel the need to discuss my desire to find a position with a non-profit. I applied for every non-profit position I found that I was qualified for. Of the 8 jobs I interviewed for half were with non-profits and I would have loved to work for any of them, unfortunately none of them chose me. It was impossible to only apply to non-profits so I also applied for positions at companies where I knew I would like to work.
When this position came up I researched the company online and got very excited. The job description sounded really challenging and something I would love to do. I showed the job announcement to Handy Man and he said, "Pfffttt, good luck with THAT." I applied and basically forgot about it, because that's been my coping mechanism, send off the resume and don't dwell.
The phone interview came first. I felt like I really blew it, in the beginning of the call I stammered and just couldn't put words together in a smart way. I apologized for my stammering nervousness, took a deep breath and closed strong. After the call my attitude was... Oh well, on the the next! (Fist bump.. GH fans will get that!)
They were not done with me yet. When I walked into the office a week later for an in-person interview and testing I knew I would love to work there. The interview was great. The questions they asked were the best I had been asked to date. I felt very confident through the interview and actually enjoyed myself. I completed the testing within the allowed 2 hours and felt really good about the whole experience, but again I didn't dwell.
When the call came on Friday asking for references I knew I was in the running. I finally allowed myself to hope.
On Tuesday I had a morning interview with a different company and a couple hours after I got home the call offering me the job at MacDonald-Miller came through! To say I was and still am extremely excited is an understatement!
Today I'm going to the mall to buy shoes! I'm just so darn excited!
So excited for you. I love the idea of celebration shoes.
