This has been a strange weekend for me. I haven't felt very good and it really hit me how much things have changed since I lost my job. We have to watch every penny we spend. We are planning budget meals that will last for a couple days. All the work we were going to do at the rental before putting it on the market in April might not get done. Everything just feels off kilter.
Today's Pearl Jam song reflects how I feel. It's also one of my favorites songs. It's from the Lost Dogs CD, which is a must have for any Pearl Jam fan because it's full of buried treasure. This song was also featured in a little, slightly bizarre movie called Chicago Cab in 1997.
The change in the song that happens at around the 2:18 mark is my favorite part of the song! Enjoy.

Hard to Imagine
"Things were different then. All is different now.
I tried to explain. I hope this works somehow.
Things were different then. All is different now.
I tried to explain. Oh, somehow."
Great song, PJ does angst better than anyone I think. Every time I hear Black it takes me back to one of the lowest points in my life, not in a bad way but I can feel a taste of what I felt then.

Love it! You've convinced me: I just opened iTunes and am downloading Lost Dogs as I type this.
Yeah, it sucks how penny-pinching you gotta become when you lose one income. A couple years ago I'd buy anything I wanted any time (well, within reason ... we're talking items under $100) then it all stopped when I was cut. Now we feel so darn extravagant if we order take-out -- something we used to do every Friday night. BUT, you kind of learn to get by and decide on what you REALLY want (like the Lost Dogs download!). You also realize how much you were WASTING. Good luck!

Wow...that's exactly what I have always thought since I heard them the first time 20 years ago.
HTI is one that shines in the catalogue. And you're absolutely right about Lost Dogs.
I hope things get better soon for you and your family.
