They do wine tasting every Friday and Saturday. This weekend they were sampling the new Imbue Vermouth that I posted about here. Earlier in the week hot Derek personally brought it to her store along with recipes. I plan to serve this at Blog Fest West, so you should really plan on coming!
On Saturday Handy Man and I went grocery shopping, between the regular store and Traders Joe's we almost spent double what we usually spend. We were preparing for a 21 day Detox we are starting today. We bought a butt load ton of organic fruit and veggies. I prepared individual containers of radishes and carrots for each of us to take to work for the week. I also made veggie soup stock and washed and cut up lettuce for salads. I'll keep you posted on how this works for us. Expect a report mid-week.
Saturday afternoon/evening we celebrated Mother's Day at the Pike Place Market. First we stopped off to see my friend Sharon. She sells tulips. Her Mama is visiting from Tasmania and was helping out at the flower stall.
The view from The Market is pretty spectacular.
I dragged my family to the Pike Place Bar and Grill for some dinner.
One of Sharon and her husband's good friends was having an art opening at a little shop at The Market called Local Color. Handy Man and I fell in love with a couple of his paintings, unfortunately the artists really don't like anyone taking photos of their work so I took a picture of the crowd instead.
Sunday was a very quiet, stay at home day. The sun came out for a little while and I sat outside and read for a couple hours while Handy Man visited his mom. It was a perfect Mother's Day as far as I was concerned. I really hope you all had a great day too!
It's already Tuesday March 3!! Time has flown by since the last time I caught up with all of you. I went scrapbooking over the weekend and finished my Wine Weekend album! I'm very happy with the way it turned out and wish I could show it to you.
Yesterday I went to my parents house right after work to deliver my mom her birthday present. It was a heritage scrapbook of her parents from baby pictures to the point when they got married. I also included some letters from her mom and her grandma. Again I wish I could share it with all of you!
After delivering my mom's birthday gift I went to visit one of my oldest and dearest friends. I saw all the work that her husband has been doing on the house, it looks amazing! Then we went out to happy hour and spent the next couple of hours talking non-stop. It was fantastic. I didn't get home until it was almost my bed time.
It always amazes me how time gets away from me. I will be catching up with all of you after work today!
All along one of the streets in our little town they put up banners of 11 youth's artwork. One of the youths is Dancing Daughter. Last weekend I was able to get a couple shots of her banner.
Here is DD with her banner.
And here is a close up of the banner so you can better see the art.
She's pretty excited to have her art displayed!
All last week DD stayed at school until 6pm learning the Drill Team routine so she could try out for the team this week. Unfortunately on Friday night she went bowling with friends, got a strike, jumped up in excitement and landed badly on her ankle! Now it's sprained and she is hobbling around. Luckily they are going to let her try out without doing all the marching and other hard leg moves. She will try out doing all the arm movements. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
Now time has gotten away from me again and I need to get ready to leave for work!
It took until yesterday before I fully recovered from the wine tasting weekend I took with my friends! Talk about dragging through Monday and Tuesday at work, wow! While I had the best time I've had in a long time I would not want to do that every weekend!
I'm finally done sorting through pictures of the trip and have my first post started, hopefully it will be ready tomorrow!
Other stuff has been going on in my life, like doing laundry, getting my hair cut, grocery shopping, getting caught up on American Idol before last night's show. Important stuff going on in the life of Tammy!
I would like to leave you with a delicious image from the wine tasting weekend!
It's hard to find a long lost friend on Facebook who has a common last name like Smith. It's much easier for her to find me who has a 3 syllable last name that no one can pronounce properly. Which she did. Yesterday!
There are not enough hours in the day.
I'm going to San Diego for spring break. What must I see while I'm there?
I'm also going on a "wine trip" to Oregon the first weekend in February. I'm pretty darn excited.
This is my 499th post since I started blogging in December 2008. The past 6 months I haven't posted much, so I was surprised to see that number when I logged on today. I'm working on a big post for next time and appropriately it will involve music and Pearl Jam. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my 500th post!
For today I'm sharing a little of what I've missed sharing with you the past few months with photos. I hope you enjoy them!
Star Wars Son Graduated:
Then his band played at a graduation party in the park:
Dancing Daughter performed in the summer dance show at the 5th Avenue Theatre:
Star Wars Son got his license:
And shaved his head:
Dancing Daughter started her Sophomore year of high school:
We had a Halloween party that included many teens and another concert in the basement:
And just so you don't think my world revolves around my kids...
Handy Man and I went to this very cool auction organized by my amazing friend Diane, who is also a blogger. That's not her in the picture, but the very talented and entertaining Auctioneer.
That's a little bit of what you've missed. We've done some less exciting stuff like getting new windows, having the electrical panel updated and installing a fireplace insert in the family room.
All in all it's been a good few months, but I've sure missed blogging!
Adjusting to a full time work schedule is exhausting!
I've been managing the phones without too many challenges. Luckily they won't be my main duty, I'll be the back up, back up to cover them and calls will bounce to me when the main receptionist is helping another caller.
Still having a terrible time remembering names. I'm finding the most issue with the ton of people called, Dave, Steve, Kevin, Tom, Joe... There are A LOT of those.
My mom's back surgery was a huge success. Went to the hospital to see her after work and she was bright eyed and bushy tailed and not on any pain meds! She said it's the first time she's been pain free in 2 years. There was a lot of stuff going on around the bad disc as well as a big bulge in one of the nerves, but they fixed her all up and she should be good for a while! Thanks for all your well wishes!
Star Wars Son graduates tomorrow... Pass the kleenex!
All the inspection stuff on the house has been worked out and today Handy Man will start on the two things he can fix and we hired out for two of the other jobs, hopefully all will be done by next week! We are officially under contract and the closing date is set for the middle of May.
I've had three interviews at a place where I really want to work. The position would be challenging, but very satisfying. I should hear next week.
Today I'm leaving to go here...
to do this...
and hopefully take more pictures like this ...
and rest, read and laugh.
So I won't be around for a few days. See you when I get back!
Star Wars Son started a video blog. He's goofy and kinda cute.
Our real estate agent said the house has had a lot of interest. I hope someone is interested enough to buy it soon.
I sat out in the sun again yesterday. It felt so good.
Lost has been so great this season. After the series ends in a few weeks I plan to watch all the seasons again. I think it will be fun to go back to the beginning once I know how it ends. I think SWS gets his goofiness from me.
On Monday I had an interview, tomorrow I have a follow up where I will meet the whole team for coffee and conversation!
Just read an email from our real estate agent, sounds like we might have a bidding war going on with our house.
